Ah that explains things - if you can upgrade your Mac to a newer version than 10.6 the newer the better, otherwise stick with that version of MacMiner or download 1.5.1 and run it at the command line if you need newer backends
There are two primary hashing algorithms, SHA-256 which Bitcoin uses and Scrypt which Litecoin and Fastcoin use. You can't use ASIC devices to mine scrypt currencies, that's why this isn't working!
really, 10.9? I could have sworn you wouldn't see the divider for the scroller in 10.9… maybe it's a system setting. It might be worth quitting MacMiner and starting again - i'm running a little single and it hasn't slowed down. To give you extra in…
Thanks, do let me know if there's anything on your wish list! I'm not experiencing the resizing error, what version of OS X are you using, 10.7? I'll have a look at the constraints.
Oh damn, thanks for bringing that to my attention I'll get it fixed quick! You can edit the config file manually in the miner settings panel to remove or replace the backup pools.
Something is wrong with the config file, can you make sure everything is right in pool settings (now buried in miner settings) and click save & start before starting to mine again please?
Do you have use scrypt checked in the settings panel of bfgminer window? If you haven't set up BTC pools and haven't checked that the blank pool and username issue would happen.
That's much better, it's always worth going the extra mile for a well rated PSU! Did you take the case off your single? Those grills make the units sound horrible!
Thanks Dan, extra info is always helpful! debug/quiet output applies to the logs that show up under the main part of the miner window. Quiet output is best unless you're looking for problems.
Hey there, if you delete the reference file there or run pool settings again it should fix that problem, i'll look in to the unknown algorithm though... thanks for the posts!
