  • Uh-oh, your GPU is failing for some reason! Did you change any of the settings, particularly increasing the intensity could have done it? Or did you just update to the latest version and as soon as you did you got this error?
  • I've touched nothing. This is my first experience with the app.

  • Ah - I should have looked at the model of the GPU you're using… I'm afraid it's not really capable of mining, it might work if you set the intensity to the lowest possible value but you'd probably get about 1Mh/s - these days 1Gh/s is hard enough to get by with… you could try the CPU miner window, if you're just playing around with mining… that will definitely work, it's just also going to be very slow!
  • CPU Miner says:

    [2015-03-23 08:04:41] 2 miner threads started, using 'sha256d' algorithm.

Yes, I just wanted to play with it to see how this all works. Not really sure if I want to invest $1,000s in dedicated mining hardware. But from what I've been reading that the days of using personal computers is obsolete. Im going to buy the new 12 core Mac Pro for 4k video rendering and some 3D modeling. Not sure if this bitcoin mining is of some value with idle processor time or just a waste of time all together. I'm just exploring you might say.

  • Unless your electricity is free and you don't intend to keep the mac longer than it's warranty period it wouldn't hurt, but you'd only earn a few cents…

The default setting for the CPU miner window is Litecoin mining as that's ever so slightly more viable than Bitcoin mining - maybe check some of the less ASIC dominated cryptocurrencies if you want to give it a good shot.

Looks as though it's having trouble connecting to the pool for some reason - does it start if you leave it a minute? it might also be worth removing the http:// from your pool entry as I have a (possibly false) recollection that cpu miner was pickier about url formatting…
  • Well if you call solar panels and two wind generators free, then yes. :)

I think Im done with coin mining. I think I would rather keep working on building good 4k video content on my website and building new ship designs in my modeler. I'll repurpose this mini for a music server or ships data logger.

Thanks for your help and super fast responses! Much appreciated! :)
