Using Gridseed 5-chip unit

I can't seem to get macminer to see the gridseed unit. Terminal shows a location. Is there a FAQ for setup somewhere that I missed? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance,

mk

  • should work in the GPU window for Litecoin of ASIC window for bitcoin just make sure to put

    -S gridseed:all

in the manual flags of the options panel
  • I also am having trouble configuring a 5 chip Gridseed device. I'm getting about 300 kH/s with these settings
    -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt
but it seems none of the hashes are being accepted by the BTC pool.  I don't see any evidence that the LTC mining is happening at all as there's no mention of that pool in the logs.

Sorry to be so lost, but I got*NO* documentation with the device at all. The only indicators are a blinking green and red led.
  • If you're using MacMiner you need to set it to mine Litecoin/scrypt in the miner options panel rather than specifying it with --scrypt, that's why it's using the pool you set up for BTC not LTC
  • I've tried that (in the GPU miner, right), but now all I get is constant restarts with this error message:

    [2015-04-17 09:29:34] Testing pool stratum+tcp://us2.litecoinpool.org:3333

[2015-04-17 09:29:34] HTTP request failed: Protocol stratum+tcp not supported or disabled in libcurl

  • I tried switching over to BTC (the Gridseed is supposed to be able to do both at once, yes ?) using the ASIC interface and I get the following output.  It seems there are no results being produced, yes ?  ANy advice on what to do ?

BTW: I'm using MacMiner on a 10.10.3 Macbook Air with a 5-chip Gridseed device hooked up to USB.

    Thanks !
    Dane

  • for the first issue replace stratum+tcp:// with http:// in your pool

For the second - look in to the difference in hash rate when you use both at once, I think you're better off picking one, but if you do go with one it's important to start sha256 before scrypt or vice versa I forget which way around.

A few of the miners came with switches that set the mode, is yours possibly one of those?
  • No switches on mine. I've been trying to do just one at a time for the same suspicion you have.

Tried switching to http:// with GPU Miner and now I get the following error message but still restarts every few seconds.

I'm able to mine LTC with the ASIC page setting it to BTC and giving a Litecoin pool, but that's the only combination that works and it works intermittently.  Would like to try just plain BTC mining now but have had no success.

  • Are there clues in the two LEDs ? The one closest to the USB port (labelled LED3) flashes green and starts up quickly.  The other LED flashes red and starts much more slowly.  Could one be a status LED for the LTC miner and the other for BTC ?
  • Sorry for the delay. I'm afraid BitMain haven't been at all supportive in my contact with them on this and bfgminer hasn't been updated in some time. That compounded with the hectic nature of my IRL life atm means I don't have time to look in to this unfortunately. I will update the forum with a status update.
  • On the off chance this helped, here's a post someone wrote about getting Gridseed and Fury miners working with MacMiner

I never owned them and I'm out of touch, so…
