X11 for Macminer

Hello John, I have done a search and found a few things on mining x11…but nothing I can understand. I am interested in x11 for CPU/GPU mining even though I believe my GPU is useless for mining. Is there a post or tutorial for the layman to get started on x11??

If you're familiar with the command line you can get it going from the latest posts in the bitcointalk.org MacMiner thread, otherwise the situation is that the backend miner is definitely working and it'll be built in to the MacMiner GUI in the next few days, at which point things will become a lot simpler

Awesome…Thanks for all you do for us Mac heads…BTW I sent you an email about the lateset version of MacMiner not working for me..just wondering if it was of any use to you ?…using the previous  version with no problems except with Scrypt -N I get a lot of rejects..currently at 47.5%accepted shares. thats the lowest its been the few times I have mined -N- usually at about 75+%

Since my technical abilities consist of the vast knowledge of knowing how to turn the power on and off of my Mac I will wait for the simpler solution to my X11 experiment…Thanks again

Sorry about the delay - which version did you go back to? I need to look in to the bug you sent me, thanks for the crash report! Unfortunately it's not obvious to me what's gone wrong though. I wonder whether it's a 10.7 thing so I'll investigate that angle! You don't have a newer machine to test with do you?

I am on version 1.5.20b3  here is a screen shot of the version and my accepted shares on the miner http://prntscr.com/3whydp   This is mining Scypt-N. Its been at about 70% for the last couple days but it can and does fluctuate 

All I have is this machine I am on and its 10.7.5….If there is any other info I can get for you let me know . I will be happy to do so.

It might be the pool too…I am on Wafflepool and I believe the difficulty is locked at 512…I might be to small and the % might be depending on the particular coin being mined at the time. Maybe why it fluctuates.

I'm compiling things for an update now but I'm worried you won't be able to launch it :S If so, we can try some troubleshooting… it might help the accept rate.

It does not show in the screen shot but I also get stratum_recv_line failed...Stratum connection interrupted..Stratum connection interrupted

MacMiner has now been updated for X11 support - I didn't get to scrypt-n yet though, sorry!

OK…I updated  to the newest version and it crashed on me

stratum+tcp://uswest.wafflepool.com:3331 is what I have for the pool

Username is BTC address any password

man …it won't even open with out crashing now…I think I have it set to start on CPU as soon as I start Macminer…bare with me and I will delete and download again

oh no! is that after you put the pass in?

In the finder, use the Go menu and choose Go to folder

in there put this in:

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/MacMiner

replacing username with your username on your Mac - it'll open a folder with all the config files for mining. If it still won't open, try deleting those first…

Please let me know about what made it work and what made it crash just then in relation to the password thing! If putting in the password fixed the problem on the new version I think the next version will finally be stable

no ..I did not delete the files but I put x for the pass. I will try it with no pas and see what happens.

Can I run the GPU on Scrypt n at the same time CPU on X11?
