CPU miner working but not in API output, GPU & CGminer aren't working

edited April 2014 in Support

So CPU miner is up & running. But my GPU miner isn't. :( I've installed Xcode & nothing, command line tools, nothing, nvidia tools, nothing, nvidia dev kit, nothing. I'm over at wemineltc it says my cpu isn't even running (when it is) as per the application & the pool. But my info isn't getting sent back for some reason? I have different url's & un's for CPU / GPU's are the 2 the same app underneath & that's why I'm having problems? What am I doing wrong? My GPU is saying OpenCL isn't installed but it comes with Mavericks 10.9.2.

  • CPU miner doesn't update API window yet as it doesn't use the same API as the others. It can take a while to show work on heavily mined coins due to high difficulty. Can you post specifically what it says about OpenCL please? It sounds like it's not using a GPU fit for mining, check in Sys Prefs that it's set to always use your better GPU if you're using a relevant MacBook.
  • Changed the graphics card to the "better one". Now I'm getting,

Your miner was restarted automatically after a sudden stop at 20:48:12.

CPU miner & GPU miner both just start over & over again. :( I tried to past more of what's going on the last time I was in here but it wouldn't let me post that much. :(

Half way in the middle it says the thing @ the top in an error message.

CG miner just tries to log into fabpanda w/ no un / pw & errors out...
  • you're having a problem with your pool setup, check the address username and password again :)
  • I've even changed my settings to another pool & back & I'm getting the same problem. I've rebooted & tried again & I'm getting the same problem. My UN & PW's are EXTREMELY simple. Besides, all I have to do is copy & paste it into the fields... The software isn't working correctly & I don't know why? Even when I change pools I can log into both pools & I get the same types of error messages...

  • Does the work from the CPU miner show up on wemineltc at all? The log from BFG suggests a problem handling the pool details

It could be as simple as replacing stratum+tcp:// with http://

I can't see how that pool wants to be set up though. To get to the root of the problem you could try setting up with P2Pool just to see whether it works

    pool

http://pool.fabulouspanda.co.uk:9327 (for LTC port 9332 for BTC)

then LTC/BTC address for both username and password

  • When I log into wemineltc.com initially it would show x received x accepted (on the MacMiner window). On the site it would say 0 active miners, but the work would post & it did accumulate, for a while, then it stopped all together. I even tried mining @ a new account that I created again it's showing work is getting done here for a while, then no active workers but work applied to my account? I don't get it? When I log into crypto-coin it's showing me no active pool activity. So I guess I was to assume the pool was down? That's why I switched pools. When that didn't work I tried a new one? Again it would work for a while & then drop off & stop working. :( As you can see I've pulled my hair out over the issue :) I don't know what else I could / should do?
  • I see - which version did you start with? I think this might be a problem resulting from my using the gridseed cpuminer in the latest version

1.5.18e I upgraded to the "newer" version & I still get the same error messages. :(
  • Please grab 1.5.20b3 and let me know whether you have any better luck!
  • Installed 1.5.20b3, rebooted:

Keep getting the line failed connection interrupted lines. I'm also getting a notification from the app saying:

You have version 1520b3, 1518e is available. Wouldn't that be a downgrade?

  • Just for fun I left it on over night & I pointed it at an altcoin. By morning I got several emails saying my worker was idle. :(
  • Does downgrading fix the issue?
  • I don't see the same incorrect upgrade message as you, and it shouldn't be shown - if you click 'Check for updates' in the MacMiner menu does it say the same?

Yes I've updated to 1.5.20gm, No I'm not seeing any difference in performance. :( & No downgrading didn't fix the issue. :(

I don't know what other information I could give you to help us figure out the problem here?
  • That GPU miner bug indicates something has gone wrong with the LTC conf file - reapplying the pool settings for LTC should fix it! I wonder whether that's the root of both problems?

  • How did you change the pool, manually via the conf or via the simple GUI?
  • With the buttons on my screen, I clicked the gear, I clicked "Edit Pool Settings", the preferences window came up, I copied & pasted my settings in, I clicked Save then Apply (such a pc move :( ), Then I clicked "Start".
  • Can you please post the pool, username and password here (changing those afterwards if you like) - perhaps some special character is breaking the setup?

  • ooof, Stupid mistake on my part which I'll fix for the next release, thanks for the continued help! Please remove the last comma "," in there which comes after the square closing bracket "]", making sure auto-replace doesn't swap out anything like quotes for curly quotes
  • Alternately, in the pool setup click use legacy and setup that way for now
