gridseed device users update

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the slow progress on this. Please download the latest MacMiner and use the included bfgminer or GPU/FPGA/ASIC windows

then try running GPU window set to scrypt with the manual flag

-S dualminer:all
for 1 chip devices

or

-S gridseed:all
for 5 chip devices

over clock with
--set-device gridseed:clock=850

Please let us know how you get on!

Comments

  • I'm getting:

ModMiner detect: no response to version request from /dev/cu.usbmodem1d1161

  • ah, please try

    -S dualminer:all

    or

    -S gridseed:all

It seems to be confused by the device type
  • Now I'm getting:

    by using

    -S gridseed:all

  • how about
    -S dualminer:all

? I think that's the one for USB stick miners
  • does it matter that I'm using the 5 chip?
  • it's still worth trying dualminer:all as it's not well documented yet - have you set it up the CPU miner way for scrypt yet? That definitely works but this is still yet to be tested.
  • yeah cpu miner works well just annoying that i can't see the hashrate :-/
  • Any ETA when we can have a version of Mac Miner that allows multiple gridseeds and shows hashrate?
  • Still hoping this bfgminer will allow both - I just realised (sorry for being an idiot) you should have tried with the GPU window and also set it to use scrypt :S
  • This is working in the latest version :)
  • it works! now how do I do different usernames for each device?
  • edited May 2014
    and I can't seem to set the freq, the hash rate is low. here's my flags: bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://us1.coinking.io:7777 -u kameronjm.1 -p x -S noauto -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt

  • you mean put different devices on different pools?

you should see something in the log about the over clock flags, whether it's working or not. Can you post the beginning/anything relevant from that please? The syntax looks right but I know luke-jr has changed it in the past, if that one is failing maybe try

    --set-device gridseed:clock=x850

  • and i meant putting a different worker for each device
  • Oh right at the Terminal please run with the extra flag -T to remove the text interface and give better log information (or use MacMiner ;)

to do a different worker for each device you'd have to run a different instance for each of them, but I'm not sure why you'd want to unless they're on contracts!

    with these flags: -o stratum+tcp://us1.coinking.io:7777 -u kameronjm.1 -p x -S noauto -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt

  • are you running without setting up the pool in MacMiner? Otherwise you're specifying that info superfluously in the flags. May also be worth trying without -S noauto

strange nothing about the clock flag shows up in the log...
  • now getting

string or '}' expected near '}'

  • That's usually the case when manually editing the conf file a curly quote is auto inserted by the OS - either check it thoroughly or set up the pool through the GUI again please
  • Will try that. And how do I edit the speed of the Gridseeds from within the terminal bfgminer? I know you said through the TUI but I have no idea how to do that.
  • I changed the flags to: ./bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://useast.wafflepool.com:3333 -u my address -p x -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt

and now it seems to be working perfectly fine!
  • awesome, I guess the -S noauto was messing it up somehow! In the TUI there are menus to explore, I think S for instance opens settings, so you can dig around in there if you like - I don't have a gridseed to test with though!
  • I've had six GS 5-chips running nicely at 2500-2800 Mh/s for 24 hours now using the GPU window and the flag:  -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=850 --scrypt

I had major hash rate fluctuations at first but I'm convinced that this was a hardware/power supply issue.  One of the GS devices was picky and needed its own power source.

I would love to see a local hash rate in the GPU window, but otherwise it's handling the devices superbly.
  • That's 2500-2800 Kh/s.  Sorry.
