bfgminer gives permissions issue

You try to open it in terminal and it says permission not allowed.

That shouldn't be the case, others are running it fine - can you post the command you used and the output from your Terminal please?

Thanks for the update - what version of Mac OS are you running? Also, what happens if you double click 

/Applications/bfgminer-3.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer

? It should open and ask you what pool to use.

Nothing happens when you double click it? Terminal doesn't open? What if you open Terminal and run 

chmod 777 /Applications/bfgminer-3.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer/bin

? Then try opening it again?

Well to double click the code line terminal is already open but nothing happens no.

the chmod line is not a directory

are you running an account without admin permissions or something? how about running

sudo /Applications/bfgminer-3.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer -o pool.address.com:1234 -u user -p pass

which runs as root?

and this is the only account on this computer, so it has to have admin permissions

and btw macminer straight up won't do anything when opened

and this happens when opening bfgminer from finder:

Well something's wrong there. Can you please download MacMiner and first check the GPU window works for either scrypt or Bitcoin mining, then if so run

/Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer -o pool.address.com:1234 -u user -p pass

they're the same files though. I wonder whether the download or unzip corrupted? Either way worth grabbing it again.

also you can check whether you have root permission by running 

sudo su

and entering your user password If that works, you have permissions

download this:

MacMiner 1.5.17c

Enter your pool information in the Preferences window and then try the GPU miner window and/or run like

/Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer -o pool.address.com:1234 -u user -p pass

see whether there's some difference in the two!

yea 1.5.17c is the one I downloaded, but it doesn't open, I can't get to the preferences pane. or the miner window, nothing happens.

You're running 10.9.1 and it won't open? What happens? Does it maybe open with no windows open but show up in the dock?

It doesn't show up on the dock or come up in the top left corner

and no warning comes up or anything? Something is seriously weird there. Would you have any objection to Skype screen sharing or team viewer to figure out what's going on? Also it could be worth opening Console in /Applications/Utilities to see whether there are any errors there for bfg or MacMiner

OK, seems like it's an issue with the unarchiver software, please right click or ctrl click the .zip file and choose Open With - Archive Utility which is what comes with Mac OS X

That seemed to get it working. Is it normal for my hashrate to stay at 0 for a while?

Glad we got there in the end! Would you mind letting me know which version of The Unarchiver you have please? 

It's normal for the hash rate to stay 0 for a few seconds in the GPU miner window but can be a lot longer in the CPU miner window
