  • I'd say you'd probably get a payout about once a week at 10kh/s, for a little while at least!
  • I have not seen any movement in my account
    The screens says 11.86 Mh
    my address is
    1ASCSDPsjvAtUzcxtJHWshmCjgkso87AkR

    am i mining or not?
  • I've been mining on my 5Gh/s ASIC device from BFL for almost 3 days now.  My wallet (1MeVtda6vCJGsfS2ywafEXtjGhUU1qzWt2) shows up on the graph consistantly.  If I'm reading the thread above correctly I should have seen a payout by now at 5Gh/s.  Am I configured wrong?
  • edited December 2013
At 5Gh/s you'd find a payout share on average every 4 days so you should receive 1-6 payouts every 1-8 days depending on luck
  • Hi, my bitcoin address is 1KaAZeWoTYHSHyFw8B6X7JFdcV6s3siN4v, but it don't seem to work for me. How can I mine faster on my MacBook Pro (just to get to know the working of mining bitcoins, I'm considering to buy hardware). Right now the speed is around 30Mh/s, but I think I can speed this up by using a different configuration, please give me some advice. I'm mining via wifi now.

  • There's no point GPU mining BTC anymore, you just won't earn anything, try Litecoin maybe?
  • I'm ASIC mining btc and have been steadily for a while and that's working out terrifically with macminer. Thank you!

I thought why leave empty cycles of my cpu or gnu on my macbook pro 2.2ghz i7 and AMD Radeon 6750 if litecoin mining is a possibility? So I looked up some articles about configuring BFG Miner and I've been letting it go for a few nights but to be honest I'm not sure if I've configured it properly for my hardware and if I could be getting better hash rates. I also don't know if it is even worth my little machine huffing and puffing all night and most days if the payout is always going to be really small with LTC (not in terms of exchange rate, but in terms of reward with the pool for my has rates). I notice my rate falls dramatically after starting up and then hovers at a low number. Maybe this is a misconfig or is this just the limits of my machine?

    Any advice?

  • The rates there have fallen dramatically due to high luck that you had to begin with, it calculates the speed by how many accepted shares you have so if you have more that expected in the first few seconds it'll report and unrealistically high rate. It shouldn't say Mh either if you're mining LTC... you're likely getting the Kh equivalent.. definitely keep an eye on your pool.

In terms of config just mess around with the intensity till it gets annoyingly high/makes the computer lag and use cpuminer window for cpu mining

be aware of the risks of mining on the cpu/gpu though, could burn out your macbook!
  • Yeah, the Mh threw me off. Here's my address for the pool...

    LeRuMLFE9AvYUtUXETrSXgs38hpB8HUKqv

So is that even worth my contribution/am I ever going to see a payout that' worth the risk to my MacBook Pro?
  • You would see payout but whether it's worth the risk I can't decide for you… it's probably not worth the electricity usage :S
  • I have been steadily mining Bitcoins at about 7GHz/s and litecoin at about 40KHz/s and the last payouts I have seen are from the 9th of december. My adresses are
1PCyZuWeShfsAVDfQonLQihH5PRQXRaayd for BC and LU7SDEFd9gebxZP9HKvrBH5jJHhtFEALvn for Litecoin. When I check the graphs I can see my addresses there but no income anymore. What is going on?
  • The problem is a mix of low speed and bad luck - with current difficulty you should be finding a payout share every 3 days or so, so you must have had very bad luck not to have found one for that long. Do you check it's running OK every day?
  • Absolutely. For instance at eligius you can see graphs of what you have earned untill now and when to expect payment. No such info for fabulouspanda and no payouts for 13 days. So i am seriously worried that my work is being hijacked....
  • P2Pool is different to most pools and luck is a higher factor, especially when you get down to lower speeds - at the moment you'd need at least 25Gh to ensure regular payouts. You can check the Graphs page of the pool to check out your hash rate and whether you've found a payout share, but it can only give you projections based on average luck with regards to when to expect the next payment, e.g. once you find a payout share P2Pool could find 6 blocks and give you 6 payouts over the 24 following hours, or you can get equally unlucky and get nothing for a day.

I assure you your work is not being hijacked, there are many happy users of the nodes who've been mining there a long time, but luck can make for unexpectedly low or high payouts.
  • As someone who's fairly new doc, I don't think your work is being hijacked. If you're super ultra worried you could even setup your own p2pool node. (It's not hard but I'm jaded since I write software for a living)

Keep in mind the difficulty just recently went up ~30% too. So that'll also slow down your results.

Understand that a 5Gh/s setup is well getting to be slow by current standards unless the difficulty starts to drop.

I just recently (as in late Friday) got my "beginner" rig fully up and running at ~60Gh/s. (and yes I even consider 60 as being slow!)  I've seen 4 shares thus far. 4 for 36 hours of effort. That's about 1/2 the rate that the bitcoin calculator was predicting.  P2Pool however indicates that at that rate one should see 1 share approx every 10 hours. It's quite possible that the bitcoin calculator at http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ is full of crap.

I must confess I've given thought to trying out eligius or one of the other pools. I figured I'll stick to P2Pool for a bit longer and then switch and compare the results for the same number of hours. As long as it's in a period of the same difficulty I figure it should be a reasonable comparison to make.
  • Well I must say that i wasn't used to the luck factor after mining at eligius and bitcoin.cz. There you see your earnings steadily accumulating for the work that you contribute.
But mining bitcoin at 7Gh/s and litecoin at 40KH/s and then seeing several payments coming in on 2 days for both bitcoin and litecoin and then suddenly nothing for 13 days? And fabulouspanda stated in a comment above that at these rates i should expect payoutshares about every 3 days.
So assuming bad luck in both my bitcoin AND litecoin mining exactly at the same time? I believe a different problem to be more likely. So in the mean time i am trying eligius again (although they hang on to your bitcoins for a longtime)
  • Sorry to hear that, do you know what the current withdrawal minimum limits are at those pools at the moment? It's been a while. Those pools should be a lot more predictable.

That suddenly receiving several payouts at once is the normal way P2Pool works though!
  • At eligius they say now:
    • Miners qualify for a payout once their pool balance reaches a minimum of 40 TBC (0.04194304 BTC)
And at my hashrate of 7G payout is predicted to be in a little over 2 weeks.

  • Another data point for you Doc. The share payout I was seeing from blocks paid on Sat seemed to have reflected my lower hashing rate before my current config was online. My payout for the 4 blocks found on Sunday was about 4x better than Saturday. Tho both days I was rolling along at 60Gh/s. I'm guessing there must be a bit of a lag. I'm now tracking at pretty much what the bitcoin calculator I mentioned before indicated.

Anyway while you might not want to hear it, if I were you I'd invest a bit more in hardware and up your hash rate especially as the difficulties continue to rise. Guess it all depends on how much time, effort and money you want to put into it.
  • Thanks for helping people out around the forum tgall! You're right there, it takes 24-48hrs for payout to increase and then varies by luck - I was lucky enough that 2 of today's 4 shares were more than a days expected payout!
  • I like how nearly random the payouts are...it's like holidays when you get gifts, except that instead of the holidays being regular and logical, they're randomly scattered throughout the month or year.

Case in point: Sat I was getting regular payouts every 4-5 hours.  Sunday...no payouts until evening when I got 4 separated by only 50-110mins each.  Today?  None yet, but assume I'll wake up tomorrow with BTC in my wallet.
  • I am also new, and have been mining around 5Gh/s for the past two days. So far I do not see any payouts, although I do see my progress in the graphs. Can you confirm that I'm set up OK? Has it just been bad luck so far?

    My wallet is 1B5yqyRxvXqqYsPryKCUgGnTFuZsNijzQf. Thanks!
  • That's not even bad luck yet I'm afraid, you'll generate a payout share approximately every 3-4 days at that speed what with the increases in difficulty!
You are showing up though so don't worry:

P2Pool is a lot like solo mining, there's a high luck factor!
  • Thanks for the fast response. I'll be patient. In the meantime, I'll have to consider new equipment! Thanks.
  • Um...anyone else not get a payout in over 38 hours?  I'm hashing at around 160-170GH/s...
  • Yeah, no-one did, that's the variable P2Pool luck for you - just like some of the days recently when we've found more payouts than projected!

A payout just came through though, so you must have lucked that one for us :)

Check the last blocks page here:

    A block found = a payout

this website has cool luck charts etc.
  • Ah well. Had some experience in "waiting" for the jalapeno. So although i am glad to have one if only for the historical value, it was not a wise investment considering the hardware race that is going on. Should have bought BC for the money instead :-)
So not going to order and wait for hardware that will be outdated by the time it arrives. Although i will be running my jalapeno in the meantime for fun.

  • Hi FabulousPanda,

I am new to mining and I was wondering if you could help me find how much/when a payout would be? I know my mining is relatively slow but anything would be helpful as im just starting out
  • FabulousPanda:

New to mining. I'm trying to mine DOGE on my Mac laptop. I downloaded MacMiner  and selected "Script (Litecoin, Dogecoin, etc)." in the Set up a pool dropdown menu. Under pool: "http://pool.fabulouspanda.co.uk:9327" is selected. Under Username and Password my DOGE wallet address was is selected. CPU Miner is selected under Preferences, General.

I have run the program consistently for about 3 days and presently my CPU Miner window shows 10.16 KH: Accepted: 159 of 167 (95.21%.

I actually have know idea if I am actually mining DOGE or not. I had run another mining program (poolerino) for about 2 days and received 6 Dogecoin in the time period. I switched to MacMiner because the Poolerino site capt shutting down.

I am wondering if I am mining DOGE, or not, and when I should be able to transfer mined DOGE to my wallet, and how?

Thank you and my best to you!
