I've got an ASIC miner. I'm trying to mine BTC. I've got MacMiner up and running, but struggling with the settings.
At the moment I'm just getting:
[2018-02-04 01:04:50] /Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer: -c: JSON decode of file '/Users/Julian/Library/Application Support/MacMiner/bfgurls.conf' failed
unexpected newline
[2018-02-04 01:04:50] /Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer: -c: JSON decode of file '/Users/Julian/Library/Application Support/MacMiner/bfgurls.conf' failed
unexpected newline
I'm set up for SHA-256
stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
username my bitcoin address
password my bitcoin address
I actually want to mine XVG, but can't get that to work either.
Could anyone help me.
Many thanks in advance. I'll check in in the morning it's 1am, so unlikely anyone will see this. Cheers.
Comments
I'm guessing a newline was copy pasted in to the miner setup, either edit
/Users/Julian/Library/Application Support/MacMiner/bfgurls.conf
manually, you can do so in the gpu miner options panels 'Edit config file manually'
Thank you for commenting. I am so bad at this, I don't actually know what to do if I were to edit it!!! Ultimately I'd love to mine XVG, would you be able to help me configure for this or point me in the right direction. I don't even know which 'set up for a pool' is best, I'm guessing it's skrypt (litecoin, dogecoin etc). username, my address. password, my address or XVG. I'm so sorry I'm absolutely rubbish at this.
You said you have an ASIC? Most ASICs can only mine one algorithm, some can do both SHA256 and scrypt. What ASIC do you have?
You have to set up the algorithm your pool is using, whatever pool you've chosen. For GPU mining XVG with MacMiner you'll have to use scrypt but CPU mining you could also use Lyra2REv2 or X17.
Woohoo, I've got it going. I think I'm mining XVG!!!
I'm using Scrypt (Litecoin, Dogecoin etc)
Pool: stratum+tcp://s.antminepool.com:9016
Username: my XVG address
Password XVG
Rig running at 55.25 Gh
The only thing I don't know, is how I monitor the XVG I'm mining. When I originally mined bitcoin on Elgius it showed what you were mining.
I can't see it on the AntMinePool. You submit your wallet address, then it vanishes.
It was running fine, had 175 accepts, but it seems you can't mine XVG on AntMinePool, even though it's on the list. Back to the drawing board.
I think I can mine both SHA-256 and Scrypt. I don't actually know what rig I have!!! It's a butterflylabs rig, I'm not sure how to find out the rest!!! Sorry.
Still getting nowhere
Getting this again.

I don't understand how I got it working at one point in an antminepool, but I cannot get it firing up any more. If only I had a more techie mind.
Help, I'm so lost here, I've been trying all week to get my ASIC (BFG) Miner going. Can anyone walk me through this.
I still get this:
[2018-02-08 19:18:45] /Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer: -c: JSON decode of file '/Users/Julian/Library/Application Support/MacMiner/bfgurls.conf' failed

password my bitcoin address
You mentioned manually you can edit this in the gpu miner options panels 'Edit config file manually'
I genuinely don't know what to do here.
I'll mine anything, especially what would be classed as the best coin to work on an FPGA/ASIC rig.
Happy to donate for your time, once I've got some coins.
Many thanks
The new update to MacMiner, 1.5.60, should prevent issues around accidental input in pool info. Please update to that and re-enter your pool info.
Many thanks. I've uploaded the new version. Miner is starting up and looking to get going then it slows down and I get:

Oh no. How can you tell FP? Is there any way I can get it going again?
It's what the errors you posted suggest. I'm not sure whether anyone has managed to get them working again after that starts happening, but I guess you could try reapplying thermal paste or some such if you have any ability with hardware.
I got the CG miner going and was ticking over nicely. Now it's all stopped, even my Artic Power supply. Is there anywhere in the UK that does repairs that you know of?
Not that I know of, it's quite specialist - back when they were still operational you'd have send them back to BFL for repairs.
