Error mining Litecoin using viabtc.com

I get this error message when using the CPU Miner:

How can I fix this error? Should I even use the cpu miner for this?

This seems to be an issue with the viabtc pool specifically as I have tested the cpu miner using scrypt without issue a moment ago on a p2pool node.

I can't seem to connect to any stratum. Could this just be location or internet issues?

It could be an issue with the network you're on, see whether it works with stratum+tcp://litecoinp2pool.com:9327

If not I'd guess it's your network.
