edited March 2015 in bfgminer for Mac OS X
hi there

first im new to all this and find it hard to get something working lol now i just downloaded bfgminer for mac and use Yosemite on it.

the download is no problem after that i put it in my application map and open the terminal as said in the instructions.
it start and stopt and say this Library not loaded: @executable_path/../../jansson/lib/libjansson.4.dylib

  Referenced from: /Applications/bfgminer-4.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/./bfgminer

Reason: Incompatible library version: bfgminer requires version 10.0.0 or later, but libjansson.4.dylib provides version 9.0.0

so what next im lost again ;)

Ack, looks like I made a mistake linking things up, it should be referencing from
    /Applications/bfgminer-4.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer
    not
    /Applications/bfgminer-4.10-mac/bfgminer/bin/./bfgminer

try downloading MacMiner and running it from

/Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer - it's version 5 too which is newer! I'll update the compiled bfgminer very soon when I update MacMiner's version to 5.1
  • ok i have macminging instald and when i run it in terminal it starts and i get this

  • Looks like it's working, are you trying to mine on your GPU or an ASIC?
  • ehh thats a good one im just trying things out first time i do this .

but how can i see that its working?
and how do i see if it's gpu or asic because i just put in the url and user etc and it started.
  • If you don't know you have an ASIC you don't have one - you can check out the bfgminer github and documentation here

But you may just be better off trying out the GPU miner window of MacMiner which uses bfgminer for your GPU. Keep in mind it's not profitable to GPU mine anymore!
  • ok will have a look i think i already did but this is all abra cadabra atm. so the best way is asic
  • i tried to post a comment here but registering made me have to repost. If im using terminal, how do I know where to get the urls for the pools im registered for? Possibly the best ones? Pool in more than one? Im pretty new at this.
  • You'd have to remember registering for the pools which isn't something you'd have done through MacMiner - some pools like http://eligius.st just require a payout address so you might not have registered anywhere at all!
