Need help LTC mining config

edited December 2013 in Support
I'm pretty new at this - Im trying to mine Litecoins but am having trouble getting the correct settings.  I can get BFG miner to run after a fashion but at a ridiculously low speed...5-10 Kh/s!! and it doesn't seem to be actually getting any work.

I am using the following hardware:

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how I should configure the miner options... which boxes to check/uncheck; how many CPU threads to use [if any] and any manual flags i might need.

Any thoughts on which would be the best miner to use would also be appreciated - I had thought cpuminer might be the way to go but i couldn't get it to work.

  • Hey Gary,

The default intensity is quite low for Litecoin so you'll want to turn that up a bit. Also try setting work size to 64.

You don't want to use any CPU threads in bfgminer but if you want to CPU mine you should use the CPU Miner window which is much faster. What does it say in the log when you try to use cpuminer?

  • I changed the intensity to 15 [do i need to uncheck dynamic intensity?]  I have enable cpu mining and enable quiet output ticked and have cpu threads set to 1 [I have 4]. I also have use scrypt ticked as I am mining litecoin.
In the autosetup screen I have entered my litecoin address in the top section and also for the username and password field - left the pool on the default setting [fabulouspanda.co

Its been running for about 5 mins and is only showing a speed of 9.2Kh [on BFG Miner

This is the sort of output I'm getting - it doesn't look very encouraging to me :(

When I go to start cpuminer I get the following...

    minerd: unrecognized option `--scrypt'

Try `minerd --help' for more information.

I'll leave bfg miner run for a while but i don't think its actually doing anything

  • If you're running 1.4.26 and click save & start in pool settings the connection refused messages will go away - Just to make sure you did put your LTC address in there right?

you do need to untick dynamic intensity but 16 is a bit high start at 6 and work up till it makes the computer laggy
