World is bad? Don't worry, I'm fairly confident the world is entirely indifferent.
If you're Bitcoin mining at that speed you will almost certainly not solve any shares as the difficulty is way too high now what with ASIC miners.
That's right Aussie, but from his post it seems he is actually using xmr-stak. I would suggest using an intensity of 32, 64, 128, 256 or 1024 as these seem to work more consistently. I know it's been said it only needs to be a multiple of 8 but o…
I really don't recommend using xmr-stak on an iMac as they're prone to overheating and it's a very intensive miner. But yes the newer versions of it do compile for Mac, the version I compiled was the dev branch just before it was published as 2.2…
Please describe the steps you took immediately prior to the crashes and how you set up MacMiner so I can try to figure out what happened there?
xmr-stak uses cryptonight but I wouldn't recommend it on any Mac that has integrated graphics, it'll probably burn the thing out.
What does the pool config say in ~/Library/Application Support/MacMiner?
What algorithm are you using? Could be that the difficulty is too high, I'm not familiar with XVG.
Yes, you'll need homebrew. There are instruction here: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/blob/master/doc/compile_MacOS.md
I'd recommend using xmr-stak at the command line rather than the CPU miner MacMiner has built in as xmr-stak is newer and more efficient. I compiled xmr-stak separately as all the CPU miners in MacMiner are forks of poolers original cpu miner and…
If it'll work it'd be the same as any other GPU, but you'd get really slow results and it's probably not worth GPU mining with integrated graphics.
What's the memory problem specifically? If it's the large page support issue it's been reported that running after a restart and/or with no other programs open fixes it:
in XMR-Stak-CPU Memory Alloc problem.

That might mean there's no config.txt in the same folder as the miner binary but I think it also happens if you double click the binary instead of running it on the command line.
Can you give some more information than that? It's a little too little to go on. There are miner config files in ~/Library/Application Support/MacMiner and a preference file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.fabulouspanda.macminer.plist
Is that with 2.1 and is it any improvement? Lyra2Rev2 has no GPU miners that work on macOS, the vertcoin devs say they 'might' look in to it when their official miner is closer to release.
You're talking about devices that you would have plugged in to your computer. You could use the MBP to mine with the CPU or GPU but it's impossible now for Bitcoin so you'd have to educate yourself and look for another crypto to mine with a lower…
Sometimes the GPU just can't handle it. Especially mobile GPUs.
That error doesn't usually cause a crash. Maybe try lowering the intensity.
Compiling is what you do to build the code from the repo which has been replaced by this one now:
https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/
I compiled that for CPU wh…
Absolutely, fabulous.
Unfortunately I doubt the Mac is going to reach the Windows mining speed as the AMD drivers aren't the same and Apple prefers Metal to OpenCL... maybe we'll get a Metal kernel someday though and see whether it can improve the situation! I'll try …
We're pretty close to 20k just a few weeks later! Since the futures market opened today there was a lot of press so I'm guessing there'll be another jump in prices in a couple of days when people can get their cash in to the exchanges, will be in…
What hash rate are you getting on the hackintosh and on the windows machine? I purposefully set the intensity very low by default to lower the risk to people's hardware. Edit the intensity here:
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 64, "worksize"…
You have curly quotes around the pool. Copy paste standard quote marks from elsewhere in the config and be careful about autocorrect or edit in a code editor like Xcode rather than Textedit.
Okay guys here it is, compiled from xmr-stak without httpd for 10.8+ and 0% donations
On p2pool nodes you just use your payout address
False positive, see here:
https://github.com/fabulouspanda/MacMiner/issues/12
What went wrong with the newer setup in the prefs window?
What is the output on the cpu miner instance that's failing?
I don't know whether slush pool requires you to use a different worker for each instance, I wouldn't have thoug…
What are the special features of this coin? I notice there seems to be no documentation in English
So far I don't think anyone has managed to get the lyra2rev2 working in this build unfortunately but it's unrelated to the discarded work
There's a bunch of specific GPU mining information here:
https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer/blob/bfgminer/README.GPU
It advises using

Not sure off the top of my head, or for that matter whether the older versions would still get past gatekeeper since the rules got stricter.
