Mac Miner not working....

edited December 2013 in General
Greetings,

I have installed MacMiner and entered my BTC address in the pool settings.

When I start the process I just get a ongoing feed of "5s:  0.0 avg:  0.0 u:  0.0  h/s | A:0 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none  "  there are some pre-messages to that but the post won't allow to submit all of it because it makes my post to long so will follow that in the comments.

Wondering what it is I am doing wrong here?

  • Are you trying to GPU mine? did you check enable GPU mining in miner settings if so?
  • Yes I have it enabled but I never bothered to restart the process after turning it on. Having it on added the following  to the above.

    Still getting an endless 5s:  0.0 avg:  0.0 u:  0.0  h/s | A:0 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none   message

    Looks like we are good

  • looks a lot better, I hope you manage to get at least a little BTC mining with your GPU!

I'm having a similar issue... Been using MacMiner for about 4-5 weeks no problem then all the sudden I get this error when I try to start:

    /Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin/bfgminer: -c: JSON decode of file '/Users/x/Library/Application Support/MacMiner/bfgurls.conf' failed
'[' or '{' expected near end of file

I've updated to 1.5.1 and restarted my computer but same error... Any idea what the problem is??
  • Something is wrong with the config file, can you make sure everything is right in pool settings (now buried in miner settings) and click save & start before starting to mine again please?

    I did check the settings...
-S all is still there and the pool settings are correct and saved (clicked apply)
  • Ok, back on track... it seems you have to enter a BTC address for payout even tho I use a different mining pool!
  • Oh damn, thanks for bringing that to my attention I'll get it fixed quick! You can edit the config file manually in the miner settings panel to remove or replace the backup pools.

Cool! Great tip, love the updates man!! Good job! Somehow, my rig is performing slightly less efficiently than V1.4.3
I used to hit 27-28GHps previously and now I hit 24-25GHps

Also, the window resizes automatically to the widest string of text (even after resizing it to a narrower size...)

  • Thanks, do let me know if there's anything on your wish list! I'm not experiencing the resizing error, what version of OS X are you using, 10.7? I'll have a look at the constraints.

Mining shouldn't be any slower, is it a little single? I'm running one too. Did it get faster after a few minutes? Had you just restarted the miner? Wondering about the bug with the 'Accepted' label…
  • I'm running 10.9 and yeah, I had to reboot my little single and it barely breaks 25GHps... not a big deal, was just wondering ; )

    Wishlist:
    - Temperature gauge or temp reading
    - Approx. BTC per day
  • really, 10.9? I could have sworn you wouldn't see the divider for the scroller in 10.9… maybe it's a system setting. It might be worth quitting MacMiner and starting again - i'm running a little single and it hasn't slowed down. To give you extra incentive, I just updated the 1.5.1 download to build version 1501b which allows you to set up without entering a btc address for backup pools

You can see the temperatures in the API Output window - could be tricky to add to the main window and take into account possibly dozens of units

Approx BTC per day is definitely on the way sometime soon for users of P2Pool obviously including the FabulousPanda Pool node!
  • High I can't seem to get this to work was wondering what the reason may be (I'm new to this btw) and I'm running Intel HD 3000 graphics, thanks.
