  • It's been happening with 1.5.5 only...
  • Thanks for your bug report, is this happening after running normally for a random period of time and if so how long has it been between launch and crashing? Please revert to an earlier version, I'm giving the whole app a thorough once-over before the next release so please do come back and let me know whether that fixes the problem!
  • Indeed, it's totally random... it would run fine for hours then crash then at other times it would run for like 30 mins then crash. I'll try reverting to 1.5.4 if this keeps happening :)

    Love that App!!
  • Thanks! Let me know how it goes for you. There has been another user reporting problems with the version 1.5.5 so I think earlier versions should be OK.
  • I've released 1.5.6 which hopefully fixes the issue the other user was having and I'm hoping therefore yours as well… here's the link:
  • I was gonna say, I reverted back to 1.5.4 but same issue... After a few hours of running fine, it randomly crashed.

Looks like the problem is when the computer is being unlocked (I have screen saver lock)...
  • I use screen-off-lock all the time, I'll switch to screensaver, I couldn't make it crash with a quick test, are you able to just by activating the screensaver (say with a hot corner) then 10 seconds later unlocking? I'd also be interested to know whether it stops crashing if you turn off screensavers. Are you using one of the normal built in savers?

Also, would you mind applying the Mac OS 10.9.1 update? Updates do a bit of cache cleaning so if something else is going on that might flush the problem…

This update did fix the other issue I mentioned so at least that's one theory down :/ The next will be in a day or two and focus on code cleaning and usability improvements so hopefully I'll fix this tidying up code…
  • I tried activating the screen saver with a hot corner then unlocking it, no problem but just as I was typing this, the App crashed ahah!!
I've tried updating to 10.9.1 but I'm part of the people that are stuck before being able to update... Maybe it's related?

Here is the crash log anyhow

  • Ah, maybe system files were damaged when the update failed - from what I've read, you should be fine to try again, but if you'd like to try some system maintenance try Onyx:

Make sure you quit everything else before opening it, It'll do a little hardware test when it opens, but then click automation and in that view execute

Things like the permissions repair can help with things like stuck updates
  • Good call! It worked and I'm now on 10.9.1 so let's see how it goes!

    Well, still crashes...
  • Damn. Thanks for sticking with it. If you want, you can run at the command line

    cd /Applications/MacMiner.app/Contents/Resources/bfgminer/bin

    ./bfgminer

    in Terminal

I'll be releasing a new version later today and I'll let you know when it's out, it will tidy a lot of code so hopefully that'll help out

Could you please launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search or looking in Utilities folder. Enter MacMiner in the “Filter” text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any -- the text, please, not a screenshot.

One other thing to try would be deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.fabulouspanda.macminer.plist but that will mean you have to set the app up again

  • I replied to this, I swear I did. Damn this host, I think shared hosting isn't up to it.

It looks as though it's when the display goes to sleep that's causing the crash on your machine for some reason, could you turn off display sleep and let me know if that fixes it? I'll look in to why it's expecting a reply in that situation and see if I can send one!
