Inability to see login to S2 Antminer on OS X 10.9 Safari

I have a new S2 Antminer that I would like to use with MacMiner. My efforts to connect the S2 to my Mac running Mavericks have failed. I can find no setting that allows me to see the S2 login screen on Safari when I enter the IP Address (default) 192.168.1.99 in the browser. Until I can set the set-up information by logging in, I can't expect the S2 to work with MacMiner. I can confirm that the S2 connection is active, i.e. the Mac knows about the S2, but I can't get to the S2 login screen. All that happens is that the IP Address request times out.

I would be most appreciative of any advice about how to access the login screen on the S2, and then how to use MacMiner with the S2. Thank you for your consideration.

How are you verifying that the device is showing up on the network? Does it have 192.168.1.99 displayed on the LCD? Have you tried the reset procedure in the manual here?

Thank you FabulousPanda for your advice. Here is the message I receive when I reset the S2 Antminer:

"Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address (192.168.1.99)Try connecting again later. If you continue to have problems, change the IP address of this computer or the IP address of the other device. Contact the network administrator if you need more information."

Am I correct to conclude that there is a conflict in the IP address of the MacBook Pro and the S2 Antminer, both having the IP address 192.168.1.99? If so, how can I change the comptuter's IP address to give the S2 Antminer unfettered use of 192.168.1.99? Will changing the IP address in this way allow me to login to the S2 Antminer?

I forgot to mention that yes, 192.168.1.99 is displayed on the LCD. How do I know that the S2 Antminer is connected? In the MacBook Pro system preferences, the Network settings show that there is a connection.

Dude you can't have the same IP address as the miner. Are you connecting directly to it with an ethernet cable? You should change your IP in system preferences and/or on your router first and make sure nothing else is on .99

Where the setting is:

sys prefs/network/(choose airport or ethernet depending which you use)/click advanced/choose/TCP/IP/unselect DHCP and choose an address

Thank you for your efforts to help but unselecting DHCP and entering an IP address did not enable me to login to the S2 Antminer. I did a port scan, but I did not see a conflict in IP addresses. There are no apparent conflicts in the IP address according to this scan:

Can't see that image - did you click Apply after changing your IP? Can you log in to your router to make sure there's nothing else at .1.99?

Sorry - I did not realize that the image would not appear. There does not appear to be a way to insert a photo from a file, only from an http;// address. Yes, I did apply the changes. I am not using a router; rather, I am connecting the S2 directly to the Thunderbolt port of the MBP. I wonder if it would be more profitable to try connecting to a Windows system rather than keep trying to get the S2 to connect and to display the S2 Login screen in a browser?

You're using a thunderbolt to ethernet connector? Is your Mac on a wifi network too? That could cause the problem. I'd try connecting to the router first off though it would simplify matters.

Thank you FabulousPanda - using your suggestion I was able to login to the S2 Antminer. My next challenge is to figure out why my S2 is not hashing. I suspect that the Network settings may preclude connecting to the Internet. So I can connect to the S2 from my MacBook Pro but I don't have the right IP, router, DNS information to connect the S2 to the Wi-Fi Internet coming in though the MacBook Pro. Any thoughts?

If you can connect the S2 directly to the network without putting a computer between it that would be ideal. Otherwise, you need to share the internet connection from your wifi to your ethernet interface. It's all in System Preferences!

I have taken your advice and connected the S2 directly to the router. Now I cannot log in to the S2 using 192.168.1.99, the default. Here are the device settings:

DNS: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 192.168. 1.1 (I added this from the S2)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS Servers: 75.75.75.75, 75.75.75.76

Do you see any settings that I could change to allow my MacBook Pro and the S2 to resume communication? Likewise, are there any setting changes I need to make to allow the S2 to hash?

DNS for your router should be on the list… why is the router 192.168.168.168? I would have guessed 192.168.1.1 from the other settings… Also, what is the MacBook's IP? If it's .1.99 that's a problem!

It appears that the router is 192.168.168.168

Based on additional information I have received, I have reset the S2 to the following:

S2 Antminer
Type: Static
Address: 192.168.168.99
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.168.1
DNS: 8.8.8.8

I then disconnected the miner from the MBP and connected both, independently, to the router by ethernet cables. Using this S2 configuration I am able to log into my S2 via the router. This is not something I was able to do before and tells me that the S2 is communicating with the internet. Yet when I try to perform diagnostics such ping or traceroute on the S2, all that happens is that I receive back
ping bitmaintech.com
instead of timing information in ms.

Unfortunately the S2 is still not hashing. Any advice will be welcome.

the ping issue is weird but must just mean the linux controller has their information stored within - how have you set up your pool on the miner?

It looks like the IP address and the subnet mask of the S2 are both pointing to the router. Do I also need to change another address setting on the S2, such as the DNS server?

I have a second S2 Antminer with IP address of 192.168.1.98; my first S2 as discussed above, has an IP address of 192.168.1.99

The new, second S2 is not being recognized by my MacBook Pro to permit me to set it up to run when connected directly to the router. How do I need to change the network settings to permit this second S2 to be recognized by my Mac? it is connected by an ethernet cable to the Mac.
