Where’s the Meerkat? — Privacy Policy

Where’s the Meerkat? is published by Michael O’Mara Books Limited. This policy explains how the app uses information when you play on iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Information stored on your device

The app saves your game progress, completed locations, current hunt, view position, hint use, local completion times, biography-reading progress and settings on your device. It also keeps purchase-access information so previously unlocked locations remain available offline.

We do not receive these local game records on a developer-operated server. The app has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK and does not use information to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Local information remains in your app data until that data is removed or reset. Device backups and migration may preserve or restore it.

Optional Game Center

You can play and collect local Passport stamps without connecting to Game Center. If you choose to connect, Apple handles authentication through your Game Center account. The app reports completed location and biography achievements to Apple so they can appear in Game Center. It does not submit completion times, scores or leaderboards.

The app uses the Game Center player identifier to keep track of which achievements have already been reported for each account. That reporting record is stored locally. Achievements earned offline can be sent when the app next connects to Game Center. Apple’s privacy policy and Game Center settings govern information held by Apple; removing local app data does not necessarily remove Apple’s achievement records.

Purchases and Apple diagnostics

Apple processes purchases and restores through the App Store and StoreKit. The app checks Apple’s transaction information to determine access to purchased locations. We do not receive your payment-card details through the app.

Apple may provide diagnostic information, such as crash reports, according to your device’s analytics-sharing choices. See Apple’s privacy policy for information about Apple’s services and privacy controls.
